No better floor for mankind than a woodfloor with a persian rug. Provided one meets the taste of the user and the restrictions of the environment and the application the right wood floor looks good, feels great, sounds genuine and is easy to install and maintain.

Woodfibers change in width and thickness, less in length. European conditions are overal mild when compared to Asia where moisture, heath, traffic and picky users all join to decide and enjoy about a woodfloor.

Solid wood used to be only option but nowadays technology has changed and rooms need to look spacious and floors need to be flat. Nowadays, floorboards are prefered to be long and wide. Engineered wooden floors with UV coatings changed all the lot. We consulted on millions of square metres with 0.6mm tiny toplayers from home owners in China to boutique owners in Stockholm, Beunos Aires, Doha and Paris.

Emerging markets tend to be reluctant on accepting natural defects. While doing efforts for being sustainable, too often compromises on the budget are made resulting into luxurious wooden floors peaking or cracking.

History

When laminate floors conquered the world with HDF cores and imitation toplayers, wooden floors got worldwide established as favourable solutions for millions of m2 day after day. During these years, we engaged in promoting engineered wooden floors with Prime Grade 0.6mm wearlayers, coated with revolutionary UV lacquers. A disappointing experience with their touch and sound in combination with issues with water, caused the global market to become tired and to look further. Today, engineered wooden floors with solid toplayers no less than 2.5mm (otherwise it is illegal to call them "parquet" in France or "Parkett" in Germany) stand for fashionable, luxurious and convenient.

While 20 years ago a selection was to be made between Oak, Beech, Maple, Walnut, Ash, Mahogany, Cherry and Teak, today, Oak is king. Oak can be brushed and smoked full body. Also Oak comes FSC certified and allows UV coatings to bond well. It now fashion to match the right colour, often tone in tone colours. Also it has become fashion to choose a texture: smooth, brushed, aged, bandsawn. "Nobody but a designer can make a woodfloor bullet proof". Once the width and the grading are decided, it is often the budget to impose on the width of the planks or the format of the woodfloor. Fixed length herringbones and expecially chevrons are more expensive.
